Deputy Minister for ASEAN Affairs Milena Rangel, accompanied by representatives of the Future Leaders of ASEAN program (FLBA, Tetum abbreviation), was welcomed by the President of the Republic José Ramos- Horta’s reception at the Presidential Palace, May 13, 2024. 
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister introduced the FLBA program launched by the Timorese government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to prepare future leaders to deal with the challenges of ASEAN regional integration. 
President José Ramos-Horta praised the government’s efforts to implement the roadmap to join ASEAN and shared some words of encouragement and inspiration to the young people involved in the programme. 
FLBA program participants will begin immersion trips to ASEAN countries later this month as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen ties with the region and develop a new generation of capable leaders.
