AWS, Amazon’s cloud services arm, said it has not canceled orders for advanced chips supplied by Huida for its latest supercomputer project, but will replace them with another more advanced chip.
The Financial Times quoted sources earlier as saying that AWS had switched its original plan to order Nvidia Grace Hopper chips to ordering newer Blackwell graphics processors (GPUs).
AWS and Huida announced their cooperation on the large-scale project Ceiba in March. Later in the same month, Huida announced the launch of Blackwell chips with better performance.
An AWS spokesperson pointed out that the company has not suspended any Huida orders. Based on the close cooperation between the two parties, they jointly reached a decision to replace Grace Hopper with Blackwell during the development of the Ceiba project.
AWS responded that the Financial Times revised the original news content and stated that AWS’s original agreement to order Huida chips had not been implemented.
