The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in coordination with the Office of the Prime Minister, are hosting the 2024 Timor-Leste and Development Partners Meeting (TLPDM). The event will be held from 15 to 17 May 2024 at the Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão Auditorium of the Ministry of Finance, Aitala Lalan, Dili.
This will be the first high-level dialogue between the Ninth Constitutional Government and its development partners since it takes office in July 2023. The meeting, themed “Time for Action: The Five-Year Plan of the Ninth Constitutional Government”, will be a platform to reveal and discuss the government’s strategic vision and priorities for the next five years. In addition, technical discussions will be held on four basic areas – social, economic, infrastructure and institutional strengthening – with a view to improving the alignment of development partners’ support with the government’s strategic objectives.
Co-chaired by the Minister of Finance, Santina Vegas Cardoso, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, TLDPM 2024 will bring together senior officials of the Ninth Constitutional Government, members of the National Assembly, the corps of representatives of the diplomatic service, development partners, the private sector, civil society organizations, academia and social communications.
Prime Minister Kay Lara Xanana Gusmão will deliver a closing day speech on May 17, 2024, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the event and its importance.
TLDPM 2024 will conclude with a development partner roundtable and Q&A session, giving each development partner the opportunity to provide an update on their activities and discuss alignment with government strategic priorities.
