Therefore, today, on this Independence Day, we raise our national flag high as a sign of respect.” Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov congratulated the Kyrgyz people at a solemn flag-raising ceremony on August 31. The national flag on the central square “Ala-Too” in Bishkek.
Full text of the speech (paraphrased):
“Dear compatriots!
Respected elders joined us in our independence celebration!
Dear guests, let us celebrate this great festival of our nation together!
We uphold the tradition of solemnly celebrating the Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic, recognize and cherish the values of freedom and independent development, and pass them on with dignity to future generations.
We pay tribute to the heroism of our ancestors who fought for the independence and prosperity of Kyrgyzstan and we salute them. It is our sacred duty to carry on their work!
As a sign of the accomplishment of this mission and in honor of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, the predecessor of modern Kyrgyzstan, we raised the national flag to a height of 100 meters in the very center of the region, the capital of our country – the city of Bishkek.
First of all, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to you all on the great national holiday – Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic!
May our sovereignty never be threatened! May Kyrgyzstan’s development continue to reach new heights, and may our red flag always fly proudly!
Dear compatriots!
In the battles, starting with Emperor Manas, our ancestors raised the red flag and shed blood for the independence of the people. We know this very well.
Today, in peacetime, we are united under one banner and continue to hold high the red flag for the integrity and unity of Kyrgyzstan, for the honor and dignity of the country, and for its new achievements.
Therefore, our red flag rises in the sunshine, symbolizing that we are an independent and united people, a country on the path of development, and that we are recognized and acknowledged on the international stage.
The name of Kyrgyzstan is known throughout the world, and the triumph of our national spirit was once again demonstrated at the recent 33rd Olympic Games. Our sons and daughters, carrying the blood of their heroic ancestors, did not lose sight of the honor of their country and raised our red flag along with the flags of the world’s leading countries.
The red flag left by Manas remains a symbol of Kyrgyzstan’s statehood, the unity of all Kyrgyz people and their love for their motherland.
Our independence today is the result of great unity and cohesion, first of all the love for the Motherland shown by the generous Manas and our heroic ancestors, the founders of the country more than a hundred years ago, and later the citizens who dedicated their lives to the Motherland. Heroes who served the country, heroes who gave their lives for every piece of land, and compatriots who made the name of Kyrgyzstan famous in the world.
Therefore, our red flag will continue to be a sacred amulet that will lead us to new victories and successes on the road to building a prosperous Kyrgyzstan, strengthen the patriotic sentiments of the younger generation, and strengthen our people’s sense of responsibility for the Motherland.
Dear compatriots!
Independence is a sacred value for us! Our ancestors created a state, protected the land, created an army, sent envoys abroad, carefully preserving the red flag as the main symbol at all stages of the country’s development.
Today, we have a mother tongue that created the greatest epic, Manas, a national culture rich in traditional customs, a profound history, and, more importantly, a youth who carry the spiritual heritage of their ancestors. Let us raise our red flag higher.
We are a great people with a strong spirit! So, today, on this Independence Day, we hold the national flag high as a sign of respect.
Dear Contemporaries!
During the years of independence, we have faced various challenges. Blindly copying foreign cultures has led to the emergence of phenomena that are incompatible with our mentality and values.
As a result, our sacred ideas have been distorted and our nation has been weakened. Unrestrained speech has come to be considered the expression of the people’s will, anarchy has been mistaken for democracy, and free speech has been replaced by gossip and rumor.
Rich people create political parties and participate in elections for their own benefit. Even now, some people believe that Kyrgyzstan is becoming a dictatorship, imposing a wrong path and causing chaos.
Today, we see a growing demand for security around the world, especially in developed democracies. Only a management system that is adequately equipped to meet the challenges and threats of our time can respond at an appropriate level.
To this end, the power vertical must be strong and strict. Leaders must be fair and responsible to the motherland. Otherwise, it will be difficult to face the challenges and threats of the times.
Finding a reasonable balance between democracy and government, markets and government regulation, refusing to live by someone else’s rules, and caring about the national interest is not authoritarianism. It is the foundation of our independent nation, and we are strengthening it today!
A sovereign state must first be able to guarantee the stability and security of its citizens. Therefore, ensuring comprehensive security is our top priority! We take this very seriously!
Dear Kyrgyz people!
Today, we can confidently say that we have embarked on the path of building a new Kyrgyzstan.
Why? Because a country is like a living organism. Balanced development in social, economic and cultural fields accelerates our overall development, just like the even flapping of a bird’s wings.
All this is the result of our correct actions to carry out reforms in the fields of constitution, finance, energy, etc., consolidate the verticality of power and strengthen the rule of law.
I would like to express my gratitude to the parliament headed by Nurlan Shagiev and the deputies of the 7th Parliament. You supported our major decisions, major projects, reforms and bills without procrastination or empty talk. That is why our economy, domestic and foreign policies have progressed rapidly and achieved success.
Historical justice had been restored, the Kumtor deposits had become state property, fiscal policy had been brought under control, and the tax and customs systems that formed the basis of the state budget had been restored to order.
Thanks to our relentless fight against corruption, which poses a huge threat to our sovereignty, we have been able to raise the prestige of teachers who are responsible for educating future generations and doctors who care for the health of our people by increasing their salaries.
Social facilities such as schools and hospitals began to develop everywhere. At the same time, we were able to raise the combat effectiveness of our army to the level it should be.
Although this seems to be a general phenomenon in the country, in fact it is a problem that has accumulated for decades and has not been solved. Last year, the country’s GDP exceeded 1.2 trillion soms, and in the first seven months of this year it reached 677 billion soms, with an economic growth of 8.7%. By the end of this year, the consolidated budget is expected to exceed 660 billion soms. In this way, we have arrived at the real economy sector. Kyrgyzstan has become a country on the path of sustainable development and has a place on the international stage.
However, we still face many challenges. In the past two years, we have started to implement big projects and our big things have gradually started to develop.
If we do not take into account the construction of small hydropower stations, the Kambar Ata-1 project and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction are at the forefront of our ambitious and promising undertakings.
This clearly shows that Kyrgyzstan is a country with great ambitions, huge opportunities and bright prospects.
Today, we have reached a level where we can, as a sovereign state, establish equal and mutually beneficial relations with other developed countries.
I recently signed a decree on restoring historical justice to the founders of modern Kyrgyzstan. Earlier, I issued a decree on solemn state celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Kara Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, which formed the foundation of modern Kyrgyzstan.
The 100th anniversary of the Karakoram Autonomous Region is the 100th anniversary of modern Kyrgyzstan! Our ancestors said: “Eluu zhylda el zhany, zhuz zhylda zher zhany” (Fifty years the people are renewed, a hundred years the earth is renewed). Therefore, the last hundred years have been a period of unprecedented changes and national aspirations in the history of Kyrgyzstan.
As you know, today we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, which was the beginning of the modern state, under the national flag raised to a height of 100 meters. Over the past 100 years, our society has undergone tremendous changes and developments, and we are entering the new 100 years with confidence.
Yesterday, we opened and commissioned a number of facilities in the real sector and the social sphere. As you may have noticed, the Terek-Tash cement plant in Kemin was opened, the Isfayram-1 small hydropower plant in Kadamjay, the Kurak-Tektir small hydropower plant in Nookat, as well as the opening of the Kara Trade and Logistics Zone, the meat processing plant “At-Bashi -Bulak”, the Min-Bulak building materials enterprise in Naryn, the Junda refinery in the Zhaiyl region, the gold bar production plant in Kara-Balta, Suzak (refinery), Chatkal (gold concentration plant) and many other production enterprises. In addition, we officially opened new schools, additional buildings for schools, kindergartens and gymnasiums.
All of these actions are confident steps to ensure Kyrgyzstan’s sovereign economic independence. Freedom of expression, protection of human rights and freedoms, national integrity, and economic independence form the foundations of sovereignty.
All this is the well-being, prosperity, wealth and sacred values of Kyrgyzstan! Therefore, we can confidently say that we are building a new Kyrgyzstan that sincerely seeks development.
Dear compatriots!
Living in a free and independent country is a huge success!
I firmly believe and believe that with the efforts, patience and wisdom of the people of all ethnic groups in Kyrgyzstan, as well as solidarity, respect for traditions and deep friendship, we will be able to achieve great success.
We will certainly be able to achieve our goal of building Kyrgyzstan into a developed and powerful country and pass it on to future generations.
May our country be peaceful and our people be prosperous!
Let us make our society united and harmonious!
Let the red flag of Kyrgyzstan fly forever!
May the Almighty help us and may our independence be blessed!
