Mbabane: His Majesty the King urgently called on the government, representatives and businesses to work together to reduce the rising trend of poverty in Swaziland, and Swaziland Television made a donation to the Mangwaneni community on Friday, July 27.
Swaziland Television donated blankets, food parcels, clothes and bread to the needy residents of Mangwaneni. The move was inspired by the fact that the television station received blankets from Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati LaNkambule to carry out such activities.
The station echoes the royal family’s vision to alleviate poverty in the Kingdom and plans to launch a CSR project next month (July). ESTVA has identified the neighbouring community of Mangwaneni as the first to participate. Elaborating on the impetus behind the Mangwaneni CSR project, ESTVA CEO Mlamuli Dlamini said: “Charity begins at home.” He stressed that it was difficult to ignore the worrying living conditions of the residents of Mangwaneni and therefore encouraged the agency to support the community through donations.
The TV station’s campaign was supported by Easy Buy Supermarket, Prime Bakery and Century Fashions, who donated food packs for the community members. ESTVA Senior Marketing and Communications Officer Nomcebo Malinga thanked the above brands for their generous support and looked forward to more collaborations in the future.
