We all know what a sandwich is. It is a delicious food sandwiched between two slices of bread.

But when it comes to taxes, nothing is simple.

Something as simple as a sandwich sales tax ends up spawning a complex web of definitions, interrelated exemptions, and rules that somehow, from a legal perspective, turn a burrito into a sandwich.
