Dam Press:
Communications in several neighbourhoods in Deraa city were cut off after copper cables near the new education bureau next to Al-Hamamah roundabout were stolen by unidentified persons.
Ahmed Hariri, the chief engineer of the Syrian Telecommunications Branch in the province, said that the theft of these cables has caused the unavailability of 2,400 telephone lines and Internet gateways in the eastern and western Kashef neighborhoods and some areas in northern Syria. Industrial areas, as well as agricultural, transportation, antiquities, fire brigade and transportation directorate, Yarmouk factory and Omran Cement Company’s communications were disrupted. Pointing out that this infringement has occurred for the third time on the cables in the above-mentioned areas.
Hariri added that the workshop immediately began to restore communications to users one after another from dawn, and they have restored about 1,200 telephone lines, noting that communications are expected to be restored to all users within the next twenty-four hours.
