As part of the ongoing implementation of the five-kilometre road project, the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Friday launched the construction of the five-kilometre road project in Kunchi town in Gari Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Tofa, on Saturday.
In the statement, the governor noted that the project was initiated during the second term of Rabi’u Kwankwaso to develop rural communities but was abandoned by the previous administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
He urged the contractors to act on the sites, saying if they failed to do so, the government would be forced to terminate the contract.
“I call on the contractor to mobilise to the site next week. Otherwise, the state government will rescind the CV contract,” the governor said.
He thanked the local people for their patience, support and cooperation and directed the contractor in charge of the project to fully mobilise to the site within a week.
Prior to launching the 5km road project, Yusuf, accompanied by his deputy, Aminu Gwazo and other members of the state executive committee, inaugurated a township road in Yandadi town.
The governor and his delegation also visited the Kano State College of Education and Matriculation.
He assured the public that the state government was ready to provide all necessary infrastructure to ensure that academic activities of the colleges continued without interruption.
