Donald Trump Said he would vote Florida maintains six-week abortion ban When the issue comes up at the ballot box in November — less than 24 hours after the vote Said it was “too short”.
Trump’s about-face came shortly after he held a rally in Pennsylvania, where he criticized his Democratic rivals. Kamala HarrisOn Thursday, she gave her first exclusive interview to CNN, and on Friday night, the former president also spoke to the ultra-conservative parental rights group Freedom Moms in Washington, D.C.
The Harris campaign quickly responded to Trump’s support for Florida’s abortion ban.
“Donald Trump just made clear where he stands on abortion: He will vote for a very extreme abortion ban that goes into effect before many women even realize they are pregnant,” the campaign said in a statement.
Harris added: “I believe women should be able to make their own health care decisions and believe the government should not be involved in the relationship between a woman and her doctor.”
In her first interview with her running mate on Thursday Tim Waltz Harris said on CNN that despite some reversals on key policy positions such as immigration and fracking, her “values” have not changed.
JD Vance Harris quickly accused herself of “going back on her word” during an interview on “Fox & Friends” on Friday.

Trump calls allegations of Arlington controversy ‘so disgusting’
Donald Trump said Democrats’ accusations that he used photos of soldiers and families at Arlington National Cemetery for propaganda and public relations purposes were “disgusting.”
On Monday, a member of the Trump campaign reportedly got into a physical altercation with cemetery officials after they tried to stop them from filming in a restricted area. On Friday, Trump told the annual Freedom Moms conference that his campaign called him about the incident that evening.
“I said ‘I can’t believe it,'” he said. “(The White House) said ‘President Trump took a photo at Arlington National Cemetery … that’s disgusting.’
He added: “I got a lot of publicity and I didn’t need that publicity… I just think it’s a horrible thing.”

Trump calls Harris a ‘flawed person’
Donald Trump described Kamala Harris as a “flawed human being” during his speech at the “Freedom Moms” convention on Friday night.
“I’m surprised she hasn’t given a lot of interviews, but I guess she’s not good at them,” he said. “Everybody’s focusing on her now, and now we see that she’s flawed. She’s a flawed person, and we don’t need another flawed person as president of the United States.”

Trump at M4L event: Washington bureau chief’s desk
Eric Garcia, The Independent The Washington, D.C. bureau chief wrote:
Tonight, former President Donald Trump will speak at the Freedom Moms convention.
A few years ago, Liberty Moms seemed to represent a new kind of conservatism. The group rose to prominence in response to school closures during the coronavirus pandemic, opposing inappropriate content in school libraries and curriculums, particularly around race, gender and sexual orientation.
The group primarily operates under the banner of “parental rights.” Glenn Youngkin’s victory in the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial race made the group a force to be reckoned with, as Youngkin won in a state that Joe Biden won in a landslide. Similarly, the group supported Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s campaign against “wokeness.” The group’s brand of conservatism, particularly its focus on social conservatism, appears to offer a more acceptable version of the culture wars for suburban areas that have drifted away from the Republican Party during Trump’s presidency.
But in the years since, the organization has been in crisis. Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler was accused of rape in late December 2023. Ziegler’s wife, Bridget, was a co-founder of Freedom Moms, and shortly thereafter the Sarasota County School Board voted to remove her from the board, even though she had not been accused of any wrongdoing.
The move significantly weakened the group. But likewise, Democrats attacked the conservative style of the Liberal Moms group, specifically calling them book flags.
Likewise, candidates backed by the Freedom Moms lost badly in the 2023 elections in states from Virginia to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, all hotbeds of suburban white women.
Trump’s speech to the group suggests there is still some life in the group. But it is nowhere near the height of its peak a few years ago.

DNC communications director: ‘Trump shows us again who he is’
Rosemary Bergling, communications director for the Democratic National Committee, said the news that Donald Trump plans to vote to maintain Florida’s six-week abortion ban is not surprising.
“Of course Donald Trump would vote to maintain Florida’s draconian abortion ban — the ban exists because of him,” she said in a statement.
“Women in Florida and across the country are being turned away from emergency rooms, denied critical care when they need it most, and having their rights taken away, all while Trump brags about how he ‘proudly’ overturned Roe v. Wade and made these cruel laws possible.
“Trump has once again shown us what he really is: an anti-abortion extremist who, like his running mate, JD Vance, will stop at nothing to ban abortion nationwide — whether Congress supports it or not — as part of their dangerous 2025 agenda.”

Trump to speak at annual ‘Mom Freedom’ rally
Donald Trump will attend the annual gathering of the Freedom Moms organization on Friday for a “fireside chat.”
Most of the group’s more than 130,000 members are conservative and agree with him that parents should have more of a say in public education and that racial equality programs and transgender accommodations should not be in schools.
