(CNS) The man is a police officer Looking for He turned himself in after shooting another driver with a flare gun following a two-car crash in Savannah yesterday. The 23-year-old from Bodden Town was taken to the Cayman Islands Detention Centre just before 5pm on Wednesday but when he was arrested on suspicion of possession of unlicensed ammunition and attempted murder he attacked a police officer.
The RCIPS said the man became aggressive after being arrested and attacked the officer, who used “reasonable force” to subdue him. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment of those injuries as well as injuries from the collision.
While being treated for his injuries in hospital, the suspect attempted to escape police custody. However, he was detained and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, disturbing the peace at a police station, and attempting to escape from lawful custody. He remains in custody pending further investigation.
