The National Housing Trust (NHT) is inviting people whose homes were damaged during Cyclone Beryl on July 3 to apply for a special Home Improvement Loan.
Funding of up to $1.5 million is available and can be used for a variety of purposes.
These include repairing damaged roofs and correcting structural issues or other home-related problems.
The facility is open to past and present NHT mortgagors, with applications due by September 30.
Dwayne Berbick, assistant general manager of corporate communications and public affairs, said the loan is part of NHT’s ongoing commitment to help those affected by the hurricane.
“We understand the challenges many donors face and this is our way of providing critical support. We encourage eligible mortgagors to take advantage of this opportunity and access the funds they may need,” he said.
Mr. Berbick suggested that people who have already used other NHT loan products can still apply for this special service.
Meanwhile, NHT Manchester branch manager Eric McLeish explained that to qualify for the loan, applicants must reside at the premises and their name should appear on the title deed of the property for which funding is being sought.
He said the applicable interest rate will be calculated based on the corresponding income using NHT’s current interest rate range, which ranges from 0% to 5%.
Individuals can apply for a special home improvement loan through the trust’s website or in person at their nearest NHT office.
