Chief executive Jodi O’Donnell said the broadcaster now had a “clear commercial mandate” and would prioritise digital over linear TV from this year as the dismal results were unveiled.

TVNZ cancelled some of its most iconic shows and stood down at least 70 staff this financial year, which led to it losing a case in an employment tribunal, while advertising revenue also fell and it made an after-tax loss of $85 million, including a $62.1 million impairment loss.
