Mexico City (apro) – Google has made the Google Chat feature available to users within its Gmail email service to improve communications within a single application, much like WhatsApp.
Chat allows users to message and collaborate with any colleague. This feature allows you to talk to people directly or through group messaging; work in large groups; share files in Sheets, Slides, and Google Docs; in addition to being able to add productivity apps.
According to the Google blog, Chat features the same functionality as Gmail, but the integrated experience provides a centralized place to read emails with friends, family, and colleagues in the same place.
You can activate or deactivate chat in Gmail on your Android device by:
- Open the Gmail app.
- In the upper left corner, press Menu, then Settings.
- Select an account to enable Google Chat.
- In General, next to Chat, activate Show chat tab and space.
You can activate or deactivate chat in Gmail from your computer in the following ways:
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- Click Settings in the upper-right corner, and then click View all settings.
- At the top, click Chat and Meet.
- To turn chat on or off in Gmail, next to “Chat,” select “Google Chat” or “Off.”
- Click Save changes.
You can activate or deactivate chat in Gmail on iPhone and iPad by:
- Open the Gmail app.
- In the upper left corner, press Menu, then Settings.
- In the Gmail App, press Chat .
- Activate or deactivate the Chat option.
