Russia’s Far East Seismological Center recorded a magnitude 6.1 earthquake on the Kamchatka Peninsula bordering Japan.
According to Russia Today, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 27 kilometers and 126 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Russia’s emergency services in the region announced that residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky felt a series of magnitude 5 earthquakes, but no casualties or property damage were caused in the region.
