JAKARTA (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the new cancer service building at the National Cancer Center at Dalmaci Cancer Hospital, the Maternal and Child Cancer Service Building.

“This afternoon, I inaugurated the building for the maternal and child cancer services at the Dalmación Oncologica Hospital,” the president noted in his speech on Friday.

Earlier, the president inspected the preparations for the new building, praising its sophisticated design as comparable to a five-star hotel.

“The building is neat, well designed and brightly lit. I often go to hospitals where the lighting is dim. The equipment is also advanced. Everything is digital,” he said.

Jokowi said the building will begin construction in 2022 and will be financially supported by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

“The budget for the building is IDR 427 billion (USD 26 million), the hospital equipment is worth IDR 313 billion (USD 19 million), and human resources are worth IDR 37 billion (USD 2 million),” he explained.

The president said he was not concerned about the huge budget needed to build the hospital as long as the construction progress met the target.

In his speech, Jokowi also praised the construction of the Maternal and Child Health Services Building at the Salgito Hospital in Yogyakarta and the Maternal and Child Health Services Building at the Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung, West Java. The two buildings were officially inaugurated on August 28 and August 29, respectively.

To this end, the President reiterated that if the budget is used as targeted, the results will not be disappointing.

“If the money is used well, this will happen. If the money is not used well, it can be seen from the quality of the building,” he emphasized.

The inauguration of the Maternal and Child Oncology Services Building at Dalmaci Hospital was marked by the President pressing the alarm button and signing the ceremony.
