Bamako, August 29 (Xinhua) — A two-car collision in central Mali on the morning of August 29 killed 14 people and injured 29 people, nine of them seriously, the Mali Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said in a statement on the 29th.
The accident occurred at around 6am (06:00 GMT) on Thursday on National Road 6 near the village of Fugani in central Mali. The statement said a bus travelling to the capital, Bamako, collided with an oncoming tractor-trailer.
All victims were taken to Fana Health Center and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the accident, the statement added.
Road traffic accidents are frequent in Mali, mainly due to the poor conditions of roads and vehicles.
