Quesada’s coach Roberto Hernandez said the athlete was greatly affected and that he had worked hard to maintain a good level, but the mechanical failure dashed his hopes of continuing to compete.
“For Diego, we had received a warning from the organization because he was aiming too high, then our equipment malfunctioned, it was damaged and counted as a warning, so unfortunately we decided that he could not continue. Diego was well prepared and a technical problem dictated his participation,” Hernandez commented in a video sent by journalist Orman Mora.
On Friday, August 30, Pilar Riveros will face Australia’s Melissa Anne Tanner in the elimination round at 2:42 a.m. French time.
Meanwhile, swimmer Camilla Haas will compete in the 100m breaststroke preliminaries in the SB8 category (partially limbless swimmers) at 3:32am and if she advances to the finals, she will return to the pool at 12:12pm.
On the other hand, wheelchair tennis player Jose Pablo Gil will face American Connor Stroud, who is ranked 31st by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) at 4 a.m. this Friday.
