EL NUEVO DIARIO, Hato Mayor – Members of the National Environmental Protection Agency (SENPA), together with personnel from the Ministry of Environment, seized a batch of seafood transported by a bus at kilometer 15 of the Sabanadella highway.
Under the leadership of the director of the Provincial Department of Environment, 33 dozen closed species of river crabs were seized in the area; 43 kilograms of prawns, 20 kilograms of shrimp meat, and 17 kilograms of clams.

During the investigation, two citizens were arrested who attempted to flee upon seeing authorities, who were believed to be the owners of the seafood.
The bus driver and his assistant were also detained and they, along with the crustaceans, were taken to the Provincial Environment Directorate in Mayor Hato for legal disposal.
In the meantime, the vehicle has been seized and is in the possession of the authorities.
