Russian agents detained: they burned Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicles and Ukrainian facilities

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained four Russian secret service agents who set fires in Zaporizhia and Kropevnitsky.

The Russians remotely formed two arson gangs, including three minors, who first looked for potential targets for money and then tried to destroy them with flammable mixtures.

“The defendants filmed each of the fires, and Russian curators planned to use the footage to spread false information about the alleged presence of an anti-Ukrainian underground in the two cities,” the report said.

In particular, two local residents were detained in Zaporizhia for setting fire to several military pickup trucks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were being repaired after performing combat missions on the front lines.

“Later, the attackers received new ‘orders’ from the Russian Federation to destroy the relay cabinets of Ukrainian signal devices in order to disrupt the logistics of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the south,” the SBU noted.

In Kropivnitsky, they detained a 41-year-old former engineer and his stepson, and tried to burn two military vehicles, one of which was a minibus used to transport Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel.

Under two articles of the Criminal Code, detainees were informed of suspected crimes.

We are talking about “a group of persons conspiring in advance to hinder the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military organizations.” And also – “intentional destruction or damage to property by arson, explosion or other generally dangerous methods.”

The suspects are currently in custody and face up to eight years in prison.
