Last year, the Thessaly region of Greece was hit by severe flooding, and many fish ended up being “pushed” from lakes and rivers into the sea.
After dead fish were scattered all over the port, a foul odor spread, alerting the public and authorities.
“They stretch for kilometers,” said Stelios Limnios, a city council member.
Volos Mayor Achilleas Boos said yesterday the stench was unbearable and accused the government of not dealing with the problem before it reached his city.
