ANSVSA is removing a chemical product sold as a food preservative – salicylic acid – from stores.

Salicylic acid has been withdrawn because it is an unauthorized substance for food additives (salicylic acid 99%) and sold as a preservative. The product was sold in different weights in the counties of Alba, Mures, Satu Mare, Arad, Bihor, Cluj, Bistrica-Nesod, Brasov, Seraj and Maramures. “Considering that the health of consumers is of utmost importance, we ask customers not to use the product in the food industry and to return it to the point of sale where it was purchased,” the ANSVSA website states.
