Johann Rupert from South Africa becomes the richest man in Africa
Rupert owns one of the world’s largest companies, Richemont, which sells luxury goods including jewelry and expensive clothing such as Cartier and Montblanc. His net worth is said to have increased from $1.9 billion to $14.3 billion.
This puts him at the top of the list of the world’s richest people at number 147, 12 places ahead of Aliko Dangote. It even makes him the richest person on the African continent.
Bloomberga also reported that Dangote’s net worth has dropped by $1.7 billion to $13.4 billion this year alone.
The poor economic situation in Nigeria is said to be the reason for Dangote’s decline in wealth, especially since most of his businesses are based in Nigeria.

According to the BBC, Rupert inherited the family fortune from his father, Anton Rupert, who expanded it from the tobacco business to the music business.

In addition to Richemont, a Switzerland-based company that makes expensive music products, Rupert also owns a company called Remgro, which is based in South Africa and has stakes in more than 30 car companies, according to Bloomberg.
In the Bloomberg list, the top 10 of the world’s richest so far is led by American Elon Musk, who has a fortune of $236 billion and continues to work in technology. Musk is followed by Frenchman Bernard Arnault, who has $198 million in Madoral and a growing business.

The list of the world’s richest is dominated by Americans, with Larry Page in seventh place, who has a $149 billion fortune from Google/Alphabet Inc. in the tech sector, and Warren Buffett, who has a net worth of $145 billion through his various business ventures.
Steve Ballmer, the former head of Microsoft, is the ninth richest person in the world with a net worth of $144 billion. Last on the list is Sergey Brin, who has a $140 billion technology fortune at Google/Alphabet Inc.
