Resort holds staff graduation ceremony to celebrate leadership milestone

Demonstrating its commitment to developing talent and leadership, Edgewater Resort and Spa recently held a graduation ceremony for 21 team members who successfully completed the 12-week Step Up Leadership Training Program.

The resort said in a statement that the program reflects a collaborative vision led by general manager Melissa Gosselin and group human resources manager Taa Pera, in partnership with mentor Caroline Medway-Smith.

The intensive course is designed to equip employees with the skills required for effective leadership and succession planning within the resort. During the course, participants take part in various modules designed to enhance their professional competences.

The training covered key areas such as effective communication in the workplace, leadership styles, team motivation and performance management. Specific topics included understanding the supervisor role, handling complaints, promoting diversity and empathy, and strategic planning aligned with the resort’s four pillars.

The program also includes practical assessments, where participants apply their learning by writing and presenting incident reports, and performance evaluations using the GROW model, a four-step system for setting and achieving goals.

“The graduation ceremony was a moving moment at the resort, with direct management and colleagues honoring graduates with sweet scented candles in recognition of their achievements,” the statement said.

“The event is made more colorful by the presence of family members, who witness the personal and professional growth of their loved ones.”

Gosselin expressed his pride in the graduates, “We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of these team members and are excited to see their future contributions as leaders in our business and community.”

The Step Up Leadership Training Program is part of the resort’s strategic initiative to foster a culture of continuous improvement and leadership excellence.
