The NFL star, who was acquitted of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in the 1990s, died in April at age 76 after a battle with cancer, according to his attorney, Malcolm LaVergne. Now his remains have been made into cremation jewelry.
According to TMZ , Lavigne “would not say exactly what kind of jewelry the children received,” but said most of it was necklaces or bracelets with miniature urn pendants.
Lavigne was keen to stress that he received none of the jewellery himself, which was divided between Arnell and Jason (his children with first wife Margaret Whitley), and Sydney and Justin Simpson (his children with Nicole).
OJ’s family was the first to announce his death earlier this year.
OJ posted on the X account (originally on Twitter): “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, passed away from cancer.
“He is surrounded by his children and grandchildren. His family asks that you respect their wishes for privacy and grace during this time of transition.”
In February, the former NFL star denied reports that he was in hospice care due to prostate cancer.
He said in one video: “Hey, X world, hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice? No, I’m not even in the hospital. I don’t know who put this there.
“Anyway, I hosted a lot of friends for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas and it all went well. So, take care, everyone, and have a great Super Bowl weekend.”
