German police said on Tuesday they had shot dead a man suspected of stabbing passers-by in the western town of Mors, days after a fatal knife attack in nearby Solingen.
Emergency services were called at 2:45 pm (12:45 GMT) on Tuesday to reports of a man “attacking and threatening several passers-by” in the town, police in nearby Duisburg said in a statement.
Police said officers located a 26-year-old German suspect who “attacked them while armed with two knives.”
Police shot the man, leaving him “critically injured,” but no one else was injured.

Scholz said on Monday that Germany would “do everything in its power to ensure that those who cannot and should not remain in Germany are returned to their home countries and deported.”
