Following the reshuffle of the Government on August 17, a handover ceremony took place between the outgoing Minister of Petroleum, Mr. Barké Bako Mahaman Moustapha, and his successor, Dr. Sahabi Oumarou, on August 26. During the ceremony, Mr. Barké Bako, in the presence of senior executives from various ministries, thanked the Head of State, General Abdulrahman Tiyani, and the Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Ramin Zaina, and highlighted the progress made, in particular the Dosso refinery project.
The new Minister, Dr. Sahabi Oumarou, thanked the Head of State for his restored confidence and stressed the importance of ensuring that oil profits go directly to the people of Niger. He highlighted the challenges of rebalancing relations with investors to ensure fairer negotiations and reiterated his commitment to mobilizing all the necessary resources to realize important projects such as the Dosso refinery.
