Delta Air Lines confirmed that two workers were killed and another was injured in an incident at a maintenance facility near Atlanta airport on Tuesday morning.
The IAM union confirmed that an aircraft tire exploded at the maintenance facility. “We stand with Delta employees during this difficult time and call on Delta and the relevant authorities to quickly and thoroughly investigate how this happened,” the IAM union said in a statement.
The IAM union is one of the unions trying to create a union for Delta employees.
A spokesman for Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport said the incident occurred at a Delta Air Lines facility and did not affect any airport operations.
The Atlanta News first reached out to Delta Airlines for more details about the incident.
