Dr. Michela Preis receives 2024 BOV Medicine PrizeDr. Michela Pulis has been awarded the 2024 BOV Medicine Prize for her outstanding academic performance.

Dr Pulis received this prestigious award after achieving the highest score in the final qualifying examination in medicine for the 2023/2024 academic year.

The BOV Medicine Prize was established in 2006 by the Bank of Valletta (BOV) in partnership with the University of Malta School of Medicine to promote excellence in medical education by recognizing and celebrating the achievements of outstanding students.

Charles Azzopardi, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Bank of Valletta, presented Dr Pulis with a commemorative certificate and the prize money.

The lecture was attended by Professor Stephen Montefort, Head of the Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta.

“We sincerely congratulate Dr. Preece on her extraordinary achievement. We are confident that her dedication and excellence will make a great contribution to the field of medicine and inspire others to strive for greater heights,” said Charles Azzopardi.

He added, “Since its inception nineteen years ago, the BOV Medicine Prize has been committed to promoting scholarship and developing outstanding medical professionals whose expertise will benefit the wider society.”

Professor Montfort also congratulated Dr. Pulis on her outstanding achievement, noting that the award encouraged students to push boundaries and validated their efforts in the pursuit of excellence.

Professor Montfort commented: “Dr. Preece’s perseverance, dedication and genuine interest in the field of medicine enabled her to excel among 140 students and win this prestigious award.”
