Libreville, Monday, August 26, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – The Gabonese Agency for Food Security (AGASA) has been on alert for days.

This position is a logical continuation of the situation that has prevailed for several days in bakeries and other pastry shops, which have been victims of repeated scams and large-scale frauds, and the participants of these dirty works are believed to be certain dishonest citizens.

Food safety remains an absolute priority at the Agency, led by Anatole Kabounou Okori, and we count on the frank cooperation of all to safeguard the health and safety of consumers. “AGASA strongly condemns these fraudulent practices, which not only hinder the Agency’s serious work but also endanger public health. The Agency therefore calls on all economic operators to show greater vigilance in the face of these false controllers,” stressed an AGASA press release on August 19.

In fact, a complaint has been filed against these persons in the courts and while awaiting the outcome, AGASA invites economic operators in the bakery and pastry sector to remain vigilant and, in case of doubt, to contact their competent service (tel. 011442123) in order to verify the authenticity of the agents in question and the administrative documents in their possession.

Following AGASA’s recent press release regarding the ban on the sale of cakes from unapproved bakeries and pastries, ill-intentioned individuals are posing as official controllers of the agency.

AGASA stressed that these counterfeiters issue documents to economic operators in the sector, thus creating dangerous confusion while undermining the implementation of food safety measures in Greater Libreville (Libreville, Owendo, Akanda, Ntum).

Remember that the main mission of the Gabonese Food Safety Authority is to guarantee the quality and safety of food throughout the country.
