The State of Senegal has decided to suspend mining operations or the granting of mining rights around the left bank of the Falème River. iGFM said that following the adoption of the decree, the Minister of Mines issued instructions on its implementation.
In fact, Bilham Souley Diop explained that the purpose of this measure is to maintain peace, security, but above all to protect the environment, promote local development and establish social stability, order and security for the benefit of the local people.
“This decree therefore requires the competent national authorities to ensure that the regulations promulgated to save Falaime are fully effective,” said Birame Souleye Diop.
