Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification Bradley Tovosia met with Makilawa Governor Stanley Siapu and members of his administration and officials at the Prime Minister’s Office today.
The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for the national government to raise concerns on pertinent issues related to the development vision of Makilawlawa Province.
Acting Prime Minister Tovosia encouraged Prime Minister Siap and his government to express their issues freely and without reservation. He further urged the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government to come up with a plan that reflects development aspirations. He said as leaders, “let’s think big and move things forward.”
The Makira Ulawa Provincial delegation is on an eight-day visit to Honiara for official dialogue with various government stakeholders and ministries. This morning the delegation called on the Acting Prime Minister and was subsequently briefed on state government issues by the Constitutional Reform Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The Makira Ulawa Provincial Government delegation also met with the Policy and Implementation Unit (PIMEU) of the OPMC to discuss and deliberate governance issues, including the much-needed physical infrastructure and resource support from the national government, and the process of integrating provincial policies with government policies to drive development.
