Witnesses said that settlers attacked the mosque in groups, while the occupation police transformed the occupied Old City of Jerusalem into a military camp and deployed hundreds of members in close proximity, especially at the gate of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and strengthened military vigilance and enforced procedures at its gate and the gate of the Old City, and restricted the entry of believers.
The attacks coincided with a call yesterday by Israel’s extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir to publicly attack the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build a synagogue there.
