He then compiled a ranking of the 10 European countries with the highest road death rates in 2023. Many popular destinations visited by Slovaks also made the list holiday.

“Despite huge improvements in road safety in recent decades, much work remains to be done to continue reducing road deaths. No country has met the 2013 target of reducing road deaths by 50% by 2023, with Poland coming closest, with a 44% reduction.
