Uniper selects Liquid Wind as project developer for Swedish methanol plant

Gothenburg, Sweden, August 27, 2024 PRNewswire/ — Global energy company Uniper has selected Liquid Wind to develop the NorthStarH2 project in the municipality of Östersund. SwedenUniper aims to produce more than 100,000 tonnes of e-methanol for the shipping and chemical industries to replace fossil fuels and feedstocks.

Once operational, NorthStarH2 will convert biogenic CO2 and renewable electricity into fossil-free e-methanol. Liquid Wind was selected to develop the project, using the company’s unique project approach, standardized design and digital platform that can be replicated with high efficiency to replace fossil fuels and feedstocks.

As announced earlier this summer, Uniper and Liquid Wind have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to accelerate the development of the eFuel plant for the production of fossil-free e-methanol.
