Pedernales.- The Pedernales prosecutor’s office has sentenced two men involved in international drug trafficking to 20 years in prison.

Trial prosecutor Carmen Virginia Felipe de la Rosa proved the guilt of Julio Cesar Almonte and Antonio Dominguez before the collegial panel of the judicial district.

In the charges carried out by prosecutor Maritza Diaz Corsino, coordinated by the director of the prosecutor’s office, Dervio Heredia, the Public Ministry proved that the defendant’s actions caused international trafficking in controlled substances, in violation of article 5, letter A., ​​6 letters A, paragraphs 59 I, 60 and 75 II of Law No. 50-88 on drugs and controlled substances.

Almonte and Dominguez were intercepted in a speedboat departing from Colombia in a joint operation with members of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Dominican Navy, and 263.06 kilograms of cocaine were seized.

For this crime, the defendant will serve his sentence in the Pedernales Public Prison.
