In response to rumours circulating on social media, the management of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) has issued a statement clarifying the situation in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Contrary to advice on Surinamese social media platforms, the pediatric intensive care unit was not closed.
AZP management has confirmed that the PICU has been temporarily shifted to another room within the hospital.
This relocation is a temporary measure and the unit will return to its original location as soon as possible.
The hospital appealed to the public to rely only on official communications from AZP management and not on rumours or unconfirmed news circulating on social media.
Management would like to emphasize that accurate and reliable information should only be shared through the hospital’s official communication channels.
