MANZINI – Yet another woman has died at the hands of her boyfriend who allegedly stabbed her with a knife.
It is believed the 22-year-old woman had an argument with her boyfriend, who then stabbed her in the left side of her chest at Mahlabatsini around 8pm on Saturday. Neighbors reportedly saw the woman come out of the house, clutching her chest, and then collapse. It is unclear what the couple argued about. Mahabatsini Community Police Officer Shepherd Magagula said both men were inside the house when the argument took place. Magagula explained that during the argument, the man locked himself and his girlfriend inside the house.
“Due to the emergency situation, the woman knocked on a window and the sound attracted two male neighbors outside. They came up and asked him to open the door,” Magagula said. He further stated that the man then stabbed his girlfriend and recounted that when he finally opened the car door, he saw his girlfriend’s face covered in blood.
Initially, Maggula revealed that neighbors did not realize she had been stabbed until she took a few steps and collapsed. Maggula said the man immediately ran outside, threw the knife behind the house and fled the scene.

Community police said that despite searching all night, the man was not found. Magagula said the man was from Mankayane and revealed the couple had had bad experiences, including an alleged assault before. He mentioned that their families had tried to intervene and the couple had split up before reconciling. “She had only returned a week before this altercation. We don’t know what caused the altercation,” the community police officer added. Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati of the Police Information and Communications Department confirmed that a 22-year-old woman from Mahlabatsini was stabbed on the left side of her chest with a sharp object by a familiar man at 8 pm on Saturday. Vilakati reported that the woman died on the way to Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital (RFM), which was still in Mahlabatsini.
Murders are not uncommon in Mahlabatsini. The publication reported in mid-July that a 22-year-old woman was found murdered and had her throat slit on the roadside, with a motive for her tragic death being suspected to be a love triangle. The gruesome discovery took place around 5am on Sunday. Sources revealed that the deceased allegedly had multiple boyfriends. It was alleged that one of her boyfriends learned that she was with another boyfriend and started stalking them. It is alleged that on that day, the accused boyfriend caught up with the deceased and her other boyfriend on a road in Mahalabasini.
