Weddings in Jazan are filled with many customs and traditions, as well as nights of female joy, the most famous of which is “Henna Night”, where women from relatives and neighbors gather at the bride’s home a few days before the wedding to share with the bride what is known as “henna carving”, and carving experts are known as “henna”, Al-Mahniyya, or “the carver”, who carve henna for the bride as this work is considered a popular female handicraft and a unique plastic art technique.
