Jesus Walking on Water
Jesus immediately told his disciples to get in the boat and go ahead to the other side until he dismissed the crowds. After saying goodbye to the crowds, he went up the mountain alone to pray. When night fell, he was alone there, the boat was already far from the shore and was tossed by the waves because of the adverse wind. At dawn, Jesus approached them walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were very scared. — It’s a ghost! — They screamed in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: — Calm down! This is me. Don’t be afraid. Peter answered, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and walked towards Jesus on the water. But when he felt a strong wind, he became afraid and began to sink. Then he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, rebuking him, saying, “You of little faith! Why did you hesitate? When they got into the boat, the wind calmed down. Those in the boat worshiped him and said, “Truly you are the Son of God. “After crossing the lake, they landed in Gennesaret. The inhabitants of that place recognized Jesus and spread the news throughout the surrounding area. My Guru is the Chariot of Light
A disciple went to see his guru in the late afternoon, and the guru said to him: — You are late. Why? “Well,” said the student, “it happens that I live on the other side of the river, and the river has flooded, so I can’t go there. I can’t cross it as usual, and as you know, there is no bridge, no boat. “Well,” said the master. Then how did you get there? — Well, I thought: “My guru is a carrier of light. It’s like there is no one where it is, just a vehicle of light. I will meditate on my guru and I will walk on the water. ” I said: “Guru, guru, guru,” and here I am. The master, of course, thought: “How amazing.” The student left, but the master could not get this story out of his mind. Finally he said to himself: “Well, I’ll try it. “He then went to the river, and after making sure that no one was watching this strange experiment, he put himself into a meditative state, and while saying “I, I, I” he stepped over the river and drowned. The meaning of this story and miracle is that just as the spirit blows on the surface of the water, a fully spiritual person can do the same thing. It was this spiritual expansion that Christ overcame when he was taken to the top of the mountain by the tempter. A true miracle
While Bankei was giving a lecture at Ryumonji, a monk of the Shinshu sect, who believed in attaining salvation by repeating the name of the Buddha of Love, became jealous of his large audience and wanted to debate with him. Bankei was in the middle of his conversation when the priest appeared, but he caused such a commotion that Bankei interrupted himself to inquire what was causing the commotion. The monk boasted, “The founder of our sect, with such miraculous powers, held a brush on one bank of the river, and his assistant held a sheet of paper on the other bank, and the master wrote the holy name of Amitabha on the air. Can you do such a miraculous thing?” Bankei replied with joy, “Perhaps your fox can also perform tricks like that, but this is not the character of Zen.
