Libreville, Monday, August 26, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – After celebrating the second day of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Gabonese Brewery Company (SOBRAGA), in collaboration with its usual partners, recently organized a reforestation operation in the Mindube mangroves, marking their total commitment to protecting the environment.
Mangroves play an important role in preventing rising water levels, thus acting as a natural barrier against flooding. They also have the ability to capture carbon dioxide, while contributing to combating climate change and regenerating ecosystems.
Environmental experts and representatives of partner associations mobilized to plant the necessary propagation stems, with a total of 4,650 stems replanted on nearly two hectares of land.
This would not only restore biodiversity, but also enhance coastal areas’ resilience to climate change by absorbing more carbon dioxide (CO2).
SOBRAGA’s partners in this challenge include the non-governmental organization Gabonese Network for Environment and Sustainable Development (RGEDD) and the Association Programme for the Restoration and Protection of Mangroves and Aquatic Ecosystems (PLURMA).
