The Film Commission announced its participation in the 81st Venice International Film Festival 2024, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Venice, Italy from August 28 to September 7, 2024. Venice is considered one of the world film festivals. It is the oldest and most important film festival in the world and is part of the Venice Biennale and is recognized by the International Association of Film Producers (FIAPF). The Film Authority aims to consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global destination. For film, in addition to highlighting its most prominent efforts, it should also strengthen international relations, highlight the richness of Saudi culture and cinema, and increase the influence of the Saudi film sector in international forums, and emphasize the importance of the National Film Archive.
The purpose of the Authority’s participation in the festival is to organize a roundtable event entitled “Challenges facing especially modern and emerging archives”, where the Authority’s archival management team will discuss these challenges in a rich dialogue with the participation of partners from the Saudi film sector, in order to promote cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
The participation of the Film Commission in the Venice Film Festival 2024 takes place in the context of participating in international film forums to contribute to the development of the Saudi film industry, empower Saudi talent, exchange experiences, perspectives and knowledge, and thus consolidate its position on the global cinema map.
