Swede Armand Duplantis set a new pole vault world record by clearing 6.26 metres on his second attempt at a Diamond League competition in Chorzow, Poland, on Sunday.
“Mondo” Duplantis, who held the world record in this event since February 2020 with 6.17 m in Torun, Poland, erased the all-time best for the tenth time, twenty days after he last set the record with 6.25 m at the Paris Olympics.
The Swede, who jumped 6.15 meters on Wednesday in the French capital of Lausanne (Switzerland), “didn’t train much” after the Olympics.
On Sunday in Poland, Armand Duplantis jumped first 5.62 m, then 5.92 m and 6 m to take the world record ahead of American Sam Kendricks and Greek Emmanouil Karalis.
On his first attempt of 6.26 m, Duplantis jumped out from under the bar, but he corrected this on his second attempt and although he touched the bar, it did not fall, and he set a new world record ahead of the previous world record holder Renaud, Lavillenie, who also competed in Chorzów.
