Tahiti, August 23, 2024 – This Friday, about a hundred young people gathered at the DGEE for an information and orientation meeting aimed at providing information and guidance to young people who do not have a solution after graduating from junior high school, secondary school or baccalaureate degree. It is an important day because its goal is to support each student so that they can find a suitable solution to continue their studies.

“Every year we try to find a solution,” This was assured by Nathalie Novelli, Inspector and Head of the Orientation and Integration Unit of the General Directorate of Education and Teaching (DGEE), during an information and orientation meeting organized by the DGEE this Friday for young people without a university and post-bachelor’s degree solution in Bire. This day, whose main aim is to support every student, every young person, so that they can find the right solution to continue their studies or to promote better professional integration, brought together more than a hundred young people.

Unfortunately, not all students get a place after the bachelor’s, third or second year because there are limited places. Sometimes, it’s the students themselves who don’t apply. We are here to get them back to school as soon as possible, or at least to training.””, Nathalie Novelli explained to Tahiti Infos. “These are typically young people who have been out of the school system for a year or two and they come back to us because they have matured and want to resume their career path.”

There is no single path

The DGEE inspector stressed that when it comes to vocational training, there are many ways to Rome. “In the minds of our young people they are often limited to one training title, whereas we could be considering another path and then getting the same type of job, the idea is to support them by broadening their horizons, but it’s not always easy to hear.”

To achieve the mission of reintegrating these students into society, Nathalie Novelli invited numerous public and private high schools, agricultural institutions, Cosip (universities), student fares, CIOs of Pirae, MPS… and institutional partners such as SEFI, CFPA, FACE Foundation, as well as the Army, Air Force, Navy, Gendarmerie, RIMaP and RSMA. “We have to rely on the desire of young people. We have young people who are interested in the military and these partners also provide great training for vacancies, there are some very beautiful courses both in Polynesia and elsewhere.”
