MOGADISHU (HOL) – Somalia’s Council of Ministers held a performance retreat in Mogadishu on Saturday, reviewing the government’s achievements over the past two years as the cabinet faces growing criticism from the opposition.
During the retreat, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud outlined the government’s progress in six key areas: liberation and security, justice and justice, national unity, economic self-sufficiency, social development and international relations.
President Mahmoud praised the government’s efforts, stressing that it had made significant achievements in liberating areas previously controlled by terrorists, promoting economic growth, encouraging investment and reforming the government.
“The achievements of the Cabinet over the past two years are undeniable. We have witnessed success achieved through cooperation and unity,” Mohammed said.
He added that the country was experiencing developmental changes that were about to become apparent and that the progress was due to the sustained efforts of the government and inter-agency collaboration.
“The next two years will be different from the past. We will bring more major projects, we guarantee that,” he said.
During the event, President Mahmoud listened to reports from various Cabinet Ministers, who detailed the progress made during their respective terms and outlined future plans.
Prime Minister Barre stressed that the achievements made in the past two years were inseparable from the support of both houses of Parliament.
However, the withdrawal has also been criticized by former government leaders, prominent politicians and regional leaders, who have expressed concerns about the government’s handling of security, political issues and upcoming elections.
