Police have begun taking testimonies from hotel staff and medical staff of the Famagusta General Hospital to clarify the circumstances surrounding a 10-year-old girl who was found unconscious in a hotel pool in Protaras yesterday.
According to Steve Theodoulou, press representative of the Famagusta Police Department, “At about 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, information was received from the Famagusta General Hospital to the Paralimni Police Station that a minor girl had been pulled into an unconscious state. Transferred from a hotel pool in Protaras”.
He added that members of the Paralimni police station went to Famagusta General Hospital and found the girl, about 10 years old, from the UK, staying at the hotel with her family on holiday. “Due to the severity of her condition, the little girl was intubated and taken by ambulance to Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, where she is hospitalized,” he said.
Mr Theodoulou said, “As of now, the 10-year-old girl is under sedation and intubated and her health condition is stable.”
It is worth noting that the police have begun receiving statements from people who saw or were aware of what happened to the little girl in the hotel pool, hotel staff, and medical staff at Famagusta General Hospital.
Inspections are continuing at the Paralimni police station.
