Ireland’s leading eye hospital is to offer a free pop-up clinic for people living with cataracts in Donegal.
The Cathedral Eye Clinic team from Belfast will be sending a team of specialists to the Radisson Hotel in Letterkenny on Wednesday 11 September.
People can find out how to have cataract surgery at Cathedral Eye Clinic and get part reimbursed by the HSE under the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme.
Joyce Shaw, team leader at the clinic, said: “Our specialists, including Professor Johnny Moore, have been treating patients from Donegal through the cross-border programme for over a decade.”
“We have noticed an increase in demand recently so we have decided to host a one-day free pop-up clinic in Letterkenny. Any patient who needs surgery will be able to receive treatment within four to six weeks.”
The dedicated cross-border team will provide the following services:
* Guide you through the process and help you get started
* Explain the types of treatments and surgeries that are eligible
* Discuss costs and reimbursement rates
* Showcasing a state-of-the-art eye hospital and dedicated cataract surgery suite
* Answer any questions and schedule consultations
The clinic will be open from 10:30am to 7pm. Anyone with cataracts can book a free appointment by sending an email victoria.gillespie@cathedraleye.com
Patients do not need to wait. The clinic team will prepare all the documents for HSE reimbursement after the operation.
