The rains in Conakry and surrounding areas over the past 24 hours have left one person dead, one missing and extensive material damage. This is the provisional assessment made this evening by the National Agency for Humanitarian Emergencies and Disasters (ANGUCH).
Not surprisingly, the figures are impressive. In addition to the dead and missing, 3,437 households were affected, 17,185 people were affected, including 39% males, 45% females, and 17% children under 10 years old.
In terms of supplies, ANGUCH reported that 61 water points, seven houses were completely destroyed, 123 toilets were affected, eight motorcycles and 14 cars were damaged.
If the 306 people rescued had not been saved, the death toll would have been much worse…
