The Governor of Central Equatoria State, General Augustino Jadala Camilo Wani, on Friday visited the Mulube area of Jebel Adu Payem in Juba County, an area that has been the scene of perennial land grabbing and has seen several murders.
The unscheduled visit comes after three locals were killed by land grabbers this week. Local officials said a young man named Tom was killed on Tuesday with eight bullets. In another bizarre turn at Tom’s funeral on Thursday, two other local men were shot dead, their legs broken, and another man was injured.
According to Waakhe Wudu LoPoni, press secretary of the governor’s office, Jadallah went to the area to comfort the families of the victims and residents of Mount Jebelado Payan and learn about the situation there.
“Governor Jadara, speaking at the grave of late Tombe, assured residents of Jebelado Payan that the state government is committed to addressing the brutal killings and land grabbing,” Udoh said.
