Two people, including Surendra Wasantha Perera alias Club Wasantha, were shot dead at a tattoo centre in Athurugiriya area on July 8 last year. The hunt is on for the murder and several suspects were arrested earlier in the case.
However, the police sought public assistance in arresting the two gunmen and the mastermind from Sri Lanka. Against this backdrop, the Counter-Terrorism Department, under the leadership of DIG Rohan Premaratne in-charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, arrested three persons involved in the case in a special operation yesterday (23rd).
It is located in Kavadana area of Dehiwala district. Among those arrested was Ajith Rohana alias Chandi Vematta, a gunman who came to kill Vasantha at the club, police said.
He is a 31-year-old resident of Ahungalla and is said to be a former soldier.
He was a member of the 14th Lions Regiment and had been arrested for murder previously.
