Gardaí are investigating a number of incidents in Cork yesterday evening involving property damage, a motorcycle hit-and-run and the seizure of firearms.

Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage at a property in the Shanakiel area of ​​Cork city at around 5:40pm. No one was injured in the incident.

A short time later, at about 6.10pm, a traffic accident occurred on Churchfield Road when a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian.

A male pedestrian (in his 60s) was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment following the collision. He is currently in a serious condition.

The motorcyclist and passenger failed to remain at the scene.

Gardaí seized a suspected firearm and subsequently arrested a man in his 20s.

He is currently being detained at a police station in the southern region under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
